Our shipping department can arrange shipping to anywhere in the world and can ship up to 8 Hov Pods per container depending on model.
Very safe. Hov Pod craft are designed with safety in mind, compared to other craft it is the class leader made from high quality durable parts & with many features unique to the Hov Pod such as impact resistant hulls, rear guarding, ease of operation, anti rip / anti plow skirts (most craft dig in at high speed, operators can be thrown dangerously forwards and then don't have enough power to get going again) & unlike most other craft (which actually will sink if flooded) contain complete integral flooded conditions buoyancy. Some competitor craft even take on water in calm conditions if they are incorrectly balanced, we like our customers and want them to have confidence to use our products in safety.
The Hov Pod buoyancy is phenomenal - the HDPE SPX models have been tested to take over a ton in weight before any water ingresses into the hull. Our Carbon models also incorporate extensive use of sealed foam within the hull structure. The carbon infinity model also has a very high freeboard, we see some craft that would be underwater with a very small wave.
Typically around 3.2 US Gallons or 12 to 15 litres per hour at cruise for the larger engines depending on engines, and conditions. The Infinity craft is user customizable for a range of up to 8.5 hours 152 miles (245km) at cruise conditions.
This will depend on how you wish to use your craft, whether leisure or commercial application and how many passengers you wish to take, and whether you will operate only on land, or also over water. If unsure about which engine to choose, please ask for advice, as this depends on weight to be carried, operating conditions and type of use. If you ever plan starting from on-water, you need to consider the on-water payload - Some suppliers modify cheaper engines or use car engines thus invalidating engine manufacturer’s warranty cover. We have rejected engines used by other suppliers (including Hirth) since they are prone to technical breakdowns and lack full international support. We use world-wide respected brands Rotax or Weber, with great pedigree, safety, reliability and full warranty. Expect the best. Unfortunately many people find out the hard way by choosing a cheaper engine from a small engine supplier - it is only when they need the parts and support that they wish they purchased a higher quality engine.

Really easy. Most people get the hang of driving the Hov Pod in less than an hour, the reason for this is our designers have worked hard to design a well-balanced craft and eradicated unnecessary controls such as trim levers and elevators to ensure that users find it easy to drive. The Hov Pod is supplied with full operator manuals and help sheets plus we make all technical manuals available on-line for 24 hour access. The Hov Pod went through hundreds of hours of testing so that the overall balance and set up of the craft make using it very simple, natural and easy to use. Easy to use, easy to learn how to drive. We designed Hov Pod for ease of operation, specifically for customers to train themselves. For this reason the majority of customers buy direct and quickly learn how to drive. Most people can learn to drive in about 30 minutes as full operator manual, pre-flight checklist and technical manuals are shipped with the craft. We spent time to design out the need for confusing extra controls and careful attention to detail so the Hov Pod is simple, instinctive & easy to drive. Many important questions effect ease of use on a hovercraft. We do not use complex joysticks and elevator controls and/or reversing mechanisms that make safe operation far more confusing. Our design philosophy was to keep it as simple as possible for operators to use the craft. By paying particular attention to the design, operation, interaction of the controls, the feel of use, stability, performance, response, balance and responsiveness of the Hov Pod, these extra controls are not needed. We eliminated the need for trim levers, elevators and reverse mechanisms to ensure that the craft are easy to operate. We have trained people from all around the world (many not experienced with motor vehicles or boats) to drive in a very short timescale & first time users quickly become confident and comfortable with the operation and are surprised to find that after about only ten minutes they can put the Hov Pod through long controlled graceful slides and manoeuvres. Simplicity of operation is the key. Extra controls we found through research required additional training and the incorrect use at the wrong time can lead to catastrophic accidents. In terms of manoeuvring the Hov Pod it can be used to undertake long graceful turns or make tight turns in confined waterways or marinas. The balance and set up of the Hov Pod means that you can turn it on the spot on both land and water. You can travel at any speed from stop to 40 miles per hour subject to conditions. The Hov Pod has been designed for low centre of gravity, so is very responsive and easy to manoeuvre at slow speeds. We have successfully demonstrated this feature to customers with narrow slipways. The Hov Pod responds to slight handlebar adjustment. The Hov Pod underhull profile and protection plates and runners are designed to allow you to stop safely & quickly in a straightline, on land or water. The Hov Pod uses one engine, which is controlled by a handlebar twist grip throttle as on a motorbike or personal watercraft. This is important because it means that Hov Pod users are immediately familiar with the style and layout of the controls. Increasing the engine revs gently brings the craft up and away in whichever direction the handlebars are operated. This deliberate simplicity of use means that you do not have to worry about controlling two engines at once or reducing revs on the wrong engine. Lowering the wrong engine revs at the wrong time can cause a craft to lose its lift air and stop very violently whilst still travelling with maximum thrust and speed, or lose its thrust and steering air while still sliding along possibly towards an object on a fully inflated skirt. We chose a pillion design seating layout because a side-by-side seating arrangement can cause imbalance and makes the craft harder to use. The craft can be stopped very quickly and spun around in its own length so we do not need reverse apparatus which severely constrains craft efficiency and noise levels. Simply put reverse is a gimmick that is in practice never used but restricts craft efficiency for 100% of the time when used in forward direction.
The Hov Pod skirt material is a unique specially developed polyurethane / nylon weave & fabric combination with anti-rip properties & incredible wear resistance. It means you can operate in greater safety & will not be forever changing or repairing skirts. The unique anti-plough IAPSS skirt design gives far greater flexibility, continued operational ability & high speed safety against rapid and sudden deceleration. Other craft use inferior and thinner materials such as Neoprene Coated Nylon skirts - though lightweight and cheap these skirts degrade when exposed to UV and rip easily. Request a sample of our skirt material, we invite customers to take our skirt rip test - we cut a section of skirt first with scissors, and ask you to try tear the fabric. We double stich the underside rubbing contact area so 2 layers of fabric are used, again another Hov Pod unique feature to aid the customer and prolong operational life. Polyurethane is commonly used on the sole of shoes since it is so hard wearing - many customers have yet to replace any sections after 4 years of wear. The Hov Pod skirt shapes control handling, and assist our anti-plowing IAPSS system. "Plowing-in" is a known problem with other hovercraft - it can cause a hovercraft to stop violently when traveling at speed over water, throwing passengers and contents forward over the bow of the craft. Other hovercraft manufactures believe that plowing in is just one of those things that hovercraft do, we have worked very hard in the design of the Hov Pod to try our best to eliminate plowing-in.
The Hov Pod gives complete operational flexibility. The Hov Pod range of hovercraft craft have no submerged propeller that could get damaged ending operations. For military, patrol, rescue and commercial users one Hov Pod payload for payload is cheaper to purchase than the daily operating, staffing & service costs of a helicopter or several types of other conventional vehicles required to give the same all terrain capability. As borders stretch for many miles over a wide range of surface types & obstructions, several low cost Hov Pod craft allow budgets to be spread over a wider area enabling more craft to be deployed to cover rivers, inland & coastal border areas & provide far better coverage & rapid response than helicopters, conventional vehicles or larger far more expensive, less portable & complex hovercraft. It’s all terrain capability mean the Hov Pod Hovercraft can act immediately taking a direct line for fast response without concern to water depth or other surface limitations in its path. In flooding it is not hindered by normally above water objects such as wire fences, walls furniture etc that prevents boat operations. It is also an ideal vehicle for humanitarian rescue or relief distribution during flooding and a craft used for patrol or commercial uses can quickly be adapted and moved to assist governments and aid agencies.
Yes. We have designed a really quick and easy trailer that means you can launch from virtually anywhere. The simple winch mechanism and roller bed means one person can load or unload in 30 seconds. We do not approve of drive-on trailers, nor do we think it sensible to expect customers to physically lift a hovercraft onto, or off a flatbed trailer since health and safety considerations have to be considered.
The Hov Pod range of craft are in a class of its own, designed by CAD & made on CAM machines from highly durable materials & processes. This means that components such as the drive parts are made to high levels of accuracy & quality for increased operational durability, safety & reliability. The Hov Pod unlike many other craft is also designed for salt water operation with enclosed quick lift off engine covers & parts such as high specification electrical components & stainless steel fittings to minimize corrosion & increase operational reliability & safety. The simple yet rugged design & use of quality components mean that servicing where required is easy to undertake. This attention to detail underlines our approach to manufacturing, we rejected the parts other hovercraft manufacturers use to minimise vibration and wear to ensure long product life, minimal maintenance and low depreciation costs. The Hov Pod is a value added product, designed to keep running costs to an absolute minimum. Full technical and operator manuals, pre-flight checklists and warranties are included in the shipment
It is hard to give a specific slope the craft will operate up. The reason for this is that it is dependant on loading, speed at base of slope, length of slope and other factors. Clearly a hovercraft will not go up very steep slopes but with a run up at short slopes it has easily overcome angles of 45 degrees or more. We have never been to a slipway the craft will not cope with and in many scenarios fairly long slopes can be traversed provided that you can approach the slope with a bit of speed to keep momentum moving. Alternatively sitting at bottom of a slope and putting full power on will start moving the craft up the slope. It may help to see the video located on this link.
Most Hovercraft are not designed for water (let alone salt-water) use, whereas the Hov Pod is specifically designed for water use. Hovercraft not designed for water use will undoubtedly require more maintenance and suffer more frequently from corrosion & part failure. The Hov Pod uses advanced construction methods, enclosed electric's, stainless steel or coated and painted parts. This greatly reduces corrosion, increasing longevity and reliability, keeping the craft looking good after use. The hull is particularly robust, manufactured from High Density Polyethylene, or HDPE so unlike GRP cannot suffer from the effects of water getting into the glass fibre and delaminating the hull construction. The skirts are also extremely tough, manufactured specifically from Polyurethane/ Nylon due to its great strength, UV and salt-water compatibility. The Hov Pod wiring is encased in a watertight protection box, whereas other Hov Pod connectors use IP66 standard. Many suppliers use open connections or terminal blocks, which are not splash proof. We also use stainless steel parts instead of mild steel parts (which is where other manufacturers reduce costs). We have had craft in operation on sea water in many parts of the world ranging from Canada to the tropics. We have also had a craft in operation on salt flats in southern Spain for many 100's of hours. Our engine covers are designed to protect the engine from debris, dirt and salt spray and in use although some dirt and spray still ends up in the chamber the engine is on the whole kept dry & free from any dirt or salt spray. Some suppliers leave the engine exposed, which will create problems with corrosion and electrical malfunction and lead to breakdowns. We coat all engines with a silicone spray to help protect them and this does a fantastic job. Where stainless steel cannot be used all metal components have undergone a marine standard coating and painting process offering the highest degree of corrosion protection.
