Introducing the new Hov Pod SPXThe Hov Pod SPX is a revolutionary and unique hovercraft design. We sold so many of the older style Hov Pod ACX craft that our bank and investors suggested we ramp up production. So in 2005, in anticipation of continuing demand, we invested in new tooling to produce a craft that will be unlike any other hovercraft. The Hov Pod SPX is manufactured from High Impact PE with composite buoyancy - smack it with a bat and we wont be offended, though don’t try that with other hovercraft. The new process helps us to manufacture a greater number of craft. The new process uses a Structural High-Density Polyethylene Material, which incorporates an enclosed cellular matrix buoyancy component. The material has been used for Formula 1 Race crash barriers in the past, due to its superior impact properties. It is lightweight, and very strong. The new SPX hulls are far stronger than the old ACX model, which was manufactured from Glass Fibre. The superior buoyancy characteristics of High Density PE ensure that we can add over a ton in weight before water ingresses into the hull. Our new SPX craft will be more rugged than any other hovercraft available; we will offer customers the opportunity to wack it with a bat, not something to try on other makes of hovercraft.

Modular sub assemblySPX Hov Pods are now produced using a modular sub assembly manufacturing technique that enables technical specialisation by our staff. This process not only improves production throughput, but also quality control, since all sub assemblies are built according to their individual process guides, (control mechanisms) and these are frequently updated to accommodate process improvements suggested by staff specialising in their field of competency.
